I found this marker and Bench Mark 'A' while snarfing about in Hagerstown.
Bench Mark 'A' was the begining point of a transcontinental level line cut in 1877 into the Hagerstown Courthouse. That line was finally extender from the Atlantic to the Pacific in 1904.
