What information about historical markers and landmarks to expect for Massachusetts, USAThere is no current historical marker program in this state, although several cities and regions have their own systems. In 1930, the tercentennial commission put up cast iron historical markers. We are in the process of entering these markers from a very old guide book which you too may be able to obtain used. However, we have no idea which of the markers are still in existence and which have vanished; it is up to you to tell us so that we can update our records.We have elected not to include the state register in Massachusetts because it lumps together all local and national landmark systems - in other words, it is a consolidation of resources and does not add anything new. It will be better, overall, to add individual landmark systems as you find them. Please send us the information and we will do our best. Museums, monuments, etc. will all need to be requested individually.
