Lists of Republic of Ireland historical landmarks and markers at Markeroni
What information about historical markers and landmarks to expect for Republic of Ireland, British IslesThere is no official system of plaques, as far as we can tell, which is typical for the British Isles. The government agency which looks after historic buildings and monuments is the Environment, Heritage and local Governement, which runs the Heritage of Ireland site. It maintains almost 80 properties which are open to the public. Many other properties and ancient monuments are in state care, but nowhere are they listed. As such, if you find a building with a plaque, or a recognisable ancient monument (stone circle, etc.) you can count it; you'll need to request it individually. We have no way of telling what grade a listed building might be, or where they are. An Taisce, the National Trust, runs several properties including natural properties. Typically, the natural ones would not be counted, but if there are signs which display information about the environment and the local history of these places, these could certainly be included. Of course, museums, war memorials, monuments, statues and memorials still count as usual.
