What information about historical markers and landmarks to expect for Victoria, Australia
The Victoria landmarks can easily be looked up at the links/databases above.Note that we do not include the Heritage Inventory - just the Register.
The statewide list, the Victoria Heritage Register, is searchable. Any "heritage place" (NOT "heritage inventory" or other catelgory) is a snarf. Wei do find, however, that the listings, rather than the search engine, provide more useful results. We use the VHR number as our numbering.
We currently have no idea whether these sites have plaques; on the other hand, if you can find them, you can log them.
For the National Register and Commonwealth Registers, you will need to ensure that your search is set to a) historic sites only and b) Listed/Registered sites only. We can't include sites which are pending.
Your safest bet at this early stage is to put in a request for a particular town or, better still, local council. Please log in and go to Journals, and fill out the form there.
